Away From My Desk...At Another Desk

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and let you all know what I've been up to lately. Well, I've been working. No, not on the usual stuff, crafts, home projects, chores... I've been helping my sister Paty in her office. One of her co-workers went on vacation for a couple of weeks and she has tons of work so she ask if I could help, which means that I most likely won't be able to post anything new until after the new year...But, I'll definitely try to come visit after work :-) Oh, I did prepared a post ahead of time for New Year's Day. Please come back and take a look. Until next time.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Christmas has once again come and gone...And way too fast if you ask me. I can't help but feel a little blue.

As I sit here and think of what to write my next post about I find myself staring at my empty idea board above my computer...

I begin to feel a little excited once again in anticipation for what is to come. The new year is just around the corner and for me it always means new beginnings, a fresh new start...Which is why I always clear my board up at the end of the year. I love to fill it up as the new year progresses with new ideas, inspiring pictures and quotes, projects to do, sweet memories, etc. As I sit here and stare at the board I'm reminded that there is still so much to look forward to and the excitement for the hope that I feel for this coming year begins to stir inside me, slowly pushing those blues away.... I can't wait.

Here's to an awesome new week and an equally awesome new year for everyone.

Blessings to all.

Stop, Breathe and Craft

Is it just me or is time just flying by too fast? I can't believe we're only 10 days away from Christmas, yikes! Well, although there is still much to do in preparation for Christmas today I've decided to take a little break from all the hustle and bustle and work on a craft for our petite Christmas tree.

Its main colors have always been burgundy, gold and cream, but through the years I've added new ones like red, white and apple green plus other elements.

This year I've decided to add a print...leopard print. Is that crazy? But I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything. So what can I do? Well, I was over at my dear friend Cindy's blog, Oakview Cottage where the little bulb over my head went off. I read in one of her posts that she had been looking for a tutorial on how to make a star to top her little Christmas tree with and as luck may have it I just happen to know of one. Click here for the tutorial.

I've been wanting to make one for quite some time and as I was going over the tutorial again that's when it hit me.

A leopard print star! What do you think?

If you have any other ideas for leopard print ornaments I would love to hear about them.

Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit today.

Most Treasured Ornament 2010

Hello my sweet blogging friends. I do hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was a very busy one for me...However, between Christmas shopping, sending out Christmas cards and having my parents over for dinner I was able to make a little time to finish up our Most Treasured Ornament for 2010 and I am soooo excited to share it with you.

Here it is.

My daughter turned 15 this year, which to us Latina girls is a very special age. It definitely was an event worthy of commemorating.

If you'd like to see some of the other ornaments I've made for other years just click here.

Can't believe 2010 is almost gone.

Second event that we wanted to acknowledge was our trip to El Teul. Although we have been there before this trip was special because it was our very first trip with the whole entire family...Mom, Dad, sisters, brother-in-laws and all the nieces and nephews.

It's a little hard to tell, but the glittered letters spell TEUL. Love, love, love glitter :-)

So there you have it, this year's Most Treasured Ornament.

Hope you enjoyed your visit today.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Have a wonderful new week.

Almost Done...

I've been hard at work and having tons of fun in the process...And I'm almost done with this years Most Treasured Ornament...

If you've followed my blog for a while you might remember that last year I shared with you the Christmas ornaments I make every year. I've made these ornaments since the very beginning...when hubby and I first started dating many, many moons ago. These special ornaments commemorate a special event that happened that particular year...

Well I'm almost done with this year's and can't wait to show you.

If you are new to my blog and would like to see some of the other ornaments I've made, or if you've seen them before and would like to see them again just click here.

There is glitter everywhere. I love it!

Remember to come back again real soon. Now off to finish my ornament.

Wishing you all, my sweet friends, a wonderful day.

My Favorite Decorating Colors

Ever since hubby and I first got married my all time favorite colors for decorating, especially in the living room have been white and any hue in the red and green family. They also happen to be my favorite colors to use for my Christmas decorating.
Which by the way is all done in our petite living room. I'd like to share some pictures of my Christmas coffee table vignette with you today.

Here's a closer look. Love the red and white contrast with the pop of chartreuse green.

My chicken wire dome all dressed up for the holiday.
Sweet little birds almost always find their way into most every one of my vignettes...I can't wait to share with you more pictures of my living room all decorated, but it'll have to wait until next time. In the meantime here's a little blast from my past...
Now if you thought I was kidding about always decorating with white and any hues of red and green ever since I first got married, well here's a little flash back to my decorating past...Enjoy!
This was our living room in our very first home together...A very small, but cozy apartment. White sofas and let me point out that they were not slipcovered...What was I thinking? Accented with dusty pink and sage green pillows. Sorry about this and the next two pictures...Pre-digital camera time :-)

Couple of years later we moved into our little cottage and little Miss Cutie here was born and it was time to slipcover. Notice the burgundy/red blinds and the store bought slipcover has forest green and burgundy too. Plus a few white accents. I promise you there were some, you can't really see them in this angle. It was also during pre-blogging time so I don't have very many pictures of my home decor from this time. These were the best I could find :-P
My daughter with her best friend Miguel and Cookie our Chihuahua.
After a few years it was time for a new sofa set...again green. My big comfy chair in the back is in a coordinating printed fabric with white and red flowers on a green background. (Little side note, this is the set I still have...the ones from the very first picture, but now they sport slipcovers I made for them.) I just can't stay away from these colors...Love, love, love them.
Happy 1st of December everyone.

Hugs and Kisses,
